Hey, what's up my bleakers? Hey, I apologize for the absence. I know it's been a while for me to record and put out some content for you guys, but I just wanted to let you guys know that there have been a few changes with the podcast. You know the content is going to come out more. I will work on that. But just to let you guys know, as of now, this is currently a solo podcast and I just wanted to make sure you know, for all the bleaks out there across the globe, I just want to let you guys know that we're wishing the best for Ralph. He decided to not want to be a part of the podcast anymore, which is fine. You know he was a great co-host, enjoyed making some great content with him, and you know I had some bleakers reach out to me and was asking like, hey, you know, are you still going to be doing a podcast? And I was debating about it. But you know, with the support out there for all the bleeps, you know I appreciate you guys letting me know like, hey, you know we still enjoy the content, whether you have a co-host or not, and you know the tribe still needs to have this content out there to share and, you know, discuss and laugh, and you know, excuse me, you know we can just come together and just talk about our experiences and the things that we enjoy and love, so I appreciate that. So I wanted to give a personal shout out to all the bleaks out there who reached out to me, you know, asking about the content, because you know what matters is the message, and I just want you guys to be aware of that, and so I'm going to go ahead and keep show going on, um, and so you know, we are in our 420 season and um, and I just want to talk about, you know beloved movie that's a classic. For all the bleakers out there who know, and if you're not a bleak and you probably know about this movie, uh, it's definitely associated with 420 culture. And now this is season five, episode five.
Speaker 1:Uh, the 420 movie review for scary movie. No, and uh, this is certainly a classic right here. Uh, you know what I have to admit guys? Um, it's been a few years since I've seen this movie and, um, I have to admit, it was a friday night, came home from work, got some food killed up on the couch it was in a couch lock mood. We're gone because I wanted a fresh, you know take on it as far as the review and I have to admit I laughed my fucking ass off um, I forgot you know how funny this movie was, especially with the wayans, um, having creative control, and it was their you know IP at that time. They have it back now.
Speaker 1:I know after the second movie they sold it to Epstein, if I'm not mistaken, or Weinstein, whichever one. I apologize on that, guys. You guys can correct me on that in the comments, but you know they sold that property and the comedy just wasn't hitting the same. You know what I mean. I have to be real. It was just one of those things where I was just like yo, this is not it and I'm just happy that the Wayans now have their IP back so they can go ahead and have creative control and make these things funny again, because that's you know, that's important. You know sometimes you have to be very careful with the content that you make and create. You know who you're going to sell those rights off to, because you know, I understand, you know we all love money, but sometimes that can really affect what your product was originally for the audience and you know either if it had a message and whatnot. But you know, I just want to kick it off and we can go right into the review.
Speaker 1:So my first impression of Scary Movie, excuse me, when that movie came out, you know I didn't see it in theaters. I have to admit I had seen it, probably within my I want to say, late teenage years, and you know it was. It was funny. But you know, sometimes there's comedy that hits a little differently when you become older, you know. Honestly, I have to admit, like it was still good, but, uh, as far as me really enjoying what I was watching and being cognizant of it, it hit a lot harder, and especially experiencing 420 myself. So, um, I would say shorty was probably my favorite character because there was like a scene where, like, he was talking to his sister, uh, they got off the bus and it was like it was like a scene where he was like, uh, yeah, your mother, and then she was like we got the same mother dumbass, he goes.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, well, your father, she goes, shit. I don't know that man. He was like, yeah, me either. And the one thing I can appreciate about the lands is that they have such a uh, great subtle punches with their comedy, with their punch lines and the delivery. But sometimes this is just my personal opinion, sometimes I feel like their comedy can be a bit rude on some of the antics that they rely on. You know, and Scary Movie had a perfect balance of the two. There was like a scene, I'm sure you bleeks remember, where there was like the sex scene and there was like the big orgasm. I was like, okay, that's like a bit much and I get it, you know. You know they're trying to make it funny, uh, but some of the characters to me were just so hilarious because one thing I could appreciate is that, you know, scary movie, at least with the first two, that was the perfect parody franchise.
Speaker 1:I mean, you got to think, because that movie, I think, came out like 2000 and you know they made a reference towards the matrix which was, like you know, for the bleaks out there, that was like revolutionary as far as, like you know, cinematic history. Um, and then how they, you know, really captured, like you know, scream, the cast and everything else, with certain scenes where they were sitting by the fountain to really replicate that, that aesthetic. And then, like Doofy, which he was like a G the whole time playing everybody acting. Like you know, he was mentally challenged. So I thought that actor was incredible for that and he was mentally challenged, so I thought that actor was incredible for that. And he was smooth on the getaway.
Speaker 1:And in another movie that they incorporated for you bleaks, if you guys remember or not, they used um, what was it? Uh, the usual suspects, you know, towards the end where she drops the coffee mug. So you know, I had to admit like that had made me laugh so hard when I had seen that and I was like I said, oh wow, like you know, it's, it's interesting. When you become older you can really pick up on the things right there.
Speaker 1:Um, marlon wayne, he was hilarious, um, and regina hall, like you know, because he was like you know, he, he had gay antics, but then in the end he was like, oh, I'm not gay. Some of the scenes, though, um were hilarious, where he would ask this girl, like you know, like go ahead and put on this jersey and then put on my shoulder pads. And then she was like, look like, what the hell you mean, like you know. So it was just funny to see those subtleties out there. And then, um, you know, uh, I still know what you did last summer I thought that was hilarious where they ran over the guy. But he happened to be like hey, I'm good, I'm good, like y'all could just keep moving, like it's nothing to worry about, like it is what it is. And then, um, like, oh boy, someone threw, like the jack daniel bottle, clocked up, clocked little dude upside the head and then he like died instantly on impact and he had shorty, he coming over there getting high with all his friends, um, you know, checking out the scene and everything, but you know, I just, uh, I just really forgot how funny that movie was. And in the part where, like old girl, she was getting her ass whooped, when the dude was like you know, I'm not going back to jail, I'm not going to jail because he kept emphasizing that he's I'm not going to jail. So he's like you know, we're going to take this to our grave, we're going to hold on to this for life. So, you know, y'all better not say shit. You know, we're going to take this to our grave, we're going to hold on to this for life. So, you know, y'all better not say shit, you know, or I'll fuck y'all up. So again, it was pretty funny on that approach with it.
Speaker 1:Um, second talking point is scary movie, considered a cult classic in 420 culture. Uh, I would say yes, you know, for my opinion. Uh, now, granted, scary movie, I'm going to say more. So, the first one, to me personally, is associated with 420 culture because it was pretty out there. But, you know, the second one can definitely be considered too because there's a scene where, like, he gets like rolled up and is smoked as a blunt. You know and I apologize for guys who haven't seen, for the bleaks out there and all my non-bleak fans out there who haven't seen the second one but there is a scene where he's he is in bed or something like that. He gets so high, his own dash of marijuana smokes him and rolls him up and his afro is the catalyst as far as the lighter and everything else, which is pretty funny. But I have to say, scary, you know, scary Movie, you know, yeah, it's definitely a comedy. It's not like the first 420 movie that you think about as far as, like 420 culture, like stoner stoner movie, as compared to, like you know, friday, pineapple Express and whatnot. But I'll have to say that it is definitely a part of the culture, though.
Speaker 1:420. I think that this movie is certainly a cult classic in its own right. Definitely appreciate it. I prefer the subtle comedy on there Not so much as the crazy disgusting antics that they put in there. But then again, comedy is all subjective, we can all agree to that. That was one of those things about that movie where I could greatly appreciate, where I was like wow. Like you know, I totally forgot how funny this movie was. This movie's funny as hell.
Speaker 1:And you know, uh, there's a particular scene, uh, within the first one, um, that you guys can remember. It's when Shorty gets shot. And they do that scene from Scary Movie, the reveal of the two guys who were playing Ghostface. But when Shorty gets shot, it was funny as hell because he was like oh shit, son. And then he falls back and then he's got the marijuana smoke coming from his lungs and he says you wanna hit this shit? And then he's got like the marijuana smoke coming from his lungs and he says like you want to hit this shit and then he passes out. So to me that was that was funny, that was that was real funny, um, but you know, that was. That was definitely a scene that stood out to me and everything. Um.
Speaker 1:For the third talking point did the original scary movie cast showcase a lot of comedic talent in this movie? I would definitely say yes. Uh, regina hall is definitely taking her career to the next level in movies. Uh, I would say that she's very iconic from this franchise. As far as the first two that she was in, um, of course you know the wayans. That goes without saying.
Speaker 1:Um, for the other actor, let me see, because one of the guys you guys got to forgive me, I'm looking him up right now for the cast he's been in some serious movies. It was the white guy who was more like the jock. Let me see here His name, more like the jock. Um, let me see here his name. Is you bear with me, guys? I apologize, okay, it's uh, lachlan Monroe. Uh, that's the actor right there who I've seen in other films before. He's. He's definitely worked with the Wayans. He has done. Uh, he was in White Chicks because he was like one of the FBI agents who was like always getting being on the butt end of a joke. Um, and so with his partner. So you know, that's where I had recognized him from. So, you know, it is amazing where you see somebody's cast um put in other movies as far as, like weighing franchises and everything else.
Speaker 1:Um, you know, and I have to give credit to, you know, uh, chan elizabeth, where she plays, like you know, buffy, uh, the scene where there was like the, the monologue and her boyfriend was getting killed and like she was doing a great job and everybody was like, uh, oh, she's, she's great, she's great, but not realizing like she was actually witnessing a murder, and stuff like that. Um, and oh, you know what another movie I forgot that they, you know, incorporated certain scenes. Um, you know, and this Another movie I forgot, that they, you know, incorporated certain scenes. Um, you know, and this is how good this movie is as far as, like them being able to incorporate other films into that was Mean Girls. Um, the scene where, like the girls were, you know, regina Hall was talking shit about her, and then she comes along like hey, what's up? You good, you know, and it was like the scene where all three of them were walking. It's like slow motion and they're like the popular girls or whatever like that. So that's another thing Again about that movie.
Speaker 1:I just wanted to bring that point in. But you know, I have to say, like, in general, it is a outstanding movie and as far as the comedic talent, you know, that's one of those comedies that that has just aged so gracefully, uh, which we can all admit, um, and I, I really enjoyed that, um, okay, fourth talking point is this movie slept on in a world of 420 classics? Um, I would say yes and no, um, it's kind of like a 50 50 for me because, you know, again, it's a comedy, you know it's a comedic classic movie. You know, hands down, people love it, um, people have always enjoyed it. Uh, again, you know, it's not stoner, stoner focus movie, but that aspect is there. But, uh, some people could say like, oh yeah, it's slept on as far as like 420, because it's not primarily the focus.
Speaker 1:In some ways, like you know, I think, when we think of 420 movies, we're thinking of Cheech and Chong or Harold and Kumar and again, like I mentioned, pineapple Express where, like those are heavily focused on, you know, getting high and then going through this like crazy process or situation or whatnot. This did have those subtle moments, but it wasn't completely focused around 420. And that's where it's, for me, my personal opinion. I think it's like a 50-50. It's like a hit or miss because it's like on one end, yes it is, you know it has that 420 culture up in there, and then on the other half it's like, okay, then it's just focused on the parody aspect of the movie itself. So you know, I feel like it is a cult classic. It's not talked about too much, but when you do mention it you know at least the franchise.
Speaker 1:People who grew up on the original to only care for the original two. Because I'm telling you, for all the bleaks, the original two only care for the original two. Because I'm telling you, for all the bleaks, if you watch all the other scary movies after that, you will see the comedy just go downhill from there. It's just really, really bad. And so I just wanted to let you guys know that. Um, and for my fifth and final talking point um, if scary movie was a strain of bud, how many puffs, on a scale One to five, would I have to hit before I would pass it? You know I would have to give it four and a half puffs. You know I got to admit Bleaks. If you haven't seen this movie in a while definitely check it out again, because I did not expect myself to laugh that damn hard when I had seen it Again.
Speaker 1:The subtle punch lines, the delivery, oh, it's just one of those movies where it's just like, hey, damn, um. I think in most cases most bleaks. Y'all will agree with me that the second one, um, it's one of the few franchises. Like, most people care for the second one more so than the first one, and I'm not saying the first one wasn't great, but I do know people who really relate to the second one. But there's a scene in the second one and I'll review it. It's one of my favorite scenes because I'll go to YouTube just to watch it because it's so funny. It's so funny. That's one of my scenes where, no matter like, how many times I watch it, I will still laugh to this day. So I'm just always impressed with that.
Speaker 1:And again, it's been a while since you've actually seen comedies out here that are promoted or you know no parodies. You know to mock these. You know big franchises and then turn it into something else and you know we live in a time where you know I understand comedy. It could be subjective, obviously, but you know things could be very sensitive. So, you know, I have seen that the Wayans did their franchise back. It's our scary movie. And I am curious to see how they're going to be able to replicate other movies whether it's sci-fi, you know specifically horror, or whatever into their new scary movie and make it funny. Because you know, guys, I'm telling y'all, when they do bring it out, I think it's going to be extremely successful um, especially knowing that they have the rights to it. And they say, hey, look, we're going to make this funny again. And I know a lot of bleaks are going to be happy to, you know, witness that and see that again and appreciate that, because, again, we don't have comedies anymore.
Speaker 1:And so, you know, I'm curious to see if they're really going to talk about 420. You know there's a new movie that came out. Uh, I'm going to have to check out. Uh, you know, with Kiki Palmer and SZA, I heard great things about it. So I'm thinking about reviewing that Um, cause it just seems like it has like the 420 kind of Friday vibe, um, next Friday ish, kind of vibe to it. And you know it is, you know, 420 seasons coming up, and you know what better way to bring in, you know, reviews than to talk about a new comedy, but I've heard great things about it, you know, that's for sure, and so that's probably a movie that you know I am going to review within the near future.
Speaker 1:As far as 420 culture, and you know, I want you bleaks to be aware that, you know, I want to really do my best, put more content out there. I apologize for the delay, um, then some things have to get switched up, but you know, we're back in business, you know, and the tribe is what matters, which you, you know, you guys, all the bleaks and all bleaks out there across the globe. I appreciate all your support, you know, but just rocking with me, being patient with me, um, and you know, you guys, if you guys are interested in, uh, cash shopping, you can, uh, and if you guys want to leave a review or, like you know, just give me feedback. If you go on to the link itself as far as a tribe called bleak and put that in, you'll be able to go to the site and then, you know, send fan mail.
Speaker 1:I would definitely love to hear from all the bleaks I have leaks in bulgaria, costa rica, shout out to, you know, france and germany, hong kong, switzerland, you know, I just want to give a shout out to all the bleaks out there. Romania, it's all across the globe. I appreciate all your support, guys. I'll do my best to put out more content for y'all. Until next time. Be safe out there, bleakers.
